I really like Rosie, but I couldn't believe the ridiculousness and pretentiousness of her clients. Both couples were crazy but in different ways. The first couple referred to their unborn child as a potentially "life-force sucking parasite." I mean, really? Comments like that make me want to scream. Why did you get pregnant in the first place if you thought that this "parasite" was going to suck the life out of you? I want nothing more than to be pregnant and I am doing everything possible and this crazy person can get pregnant when I can't? With just a few weeks to go in the pregnancy, they were very against any toys that didn’t match their apartment decor and a lonely crib sat by itself in their otherwise empty nursery. The soon to be mother looked at Rosie like she was crazy when she said that babies need toys, bright colors and patterns for development. How could someone not know this? In the end they came around and told Rosie that she was right about everything once their son, Fox, was here. Yes, not only are they assholes, but they named their son Fox, HA!
The second couple wanted Rosie's assistance with choosing of a baby name – they saw it as a “branding” of their baby with which they did not want to go wrong. " They said, "We want our new baby to have class surrounding their brand." Rosie brought together three different groups of people for the expectant couple to consult: a think tank of specialists from baby name blogging to linguistics, a random conglomerate of people off of the street, and a dinner party of their nearest and dearest friends. In the end, the couple completely ignored all three groups and chose the name they’d most liked in the beginning. It was ridiculous. They named their son Bowen Ascher Jacobs. Look for him on the 2052 presidential ticket.
The only reason why I liked the show was because Rosie thinks all of her clients are crazy too! She was just as frustrated and disgusted with them as I was as a viewer. The other thing I identified with Rosie is that she is struggling to get pregnant. She is going through IVF, and she described the heartache perfectly saying how hard it is to express what it's like to want something so bad and have no control over it. I did find out that she did get pregnant and just had her second son in February!
