I can't believe Easter is over. It feels like it was just Christmas! We had a really nice Easter weekend. On Friday, both Michael and I were off work which was really nice. Michael hasn't had a day off since Christmas and he has been so crazy busy so he really needed it. We got up and went to breakfast and then we had to take Porkchop to the vet. It was just a check up to see how he was healing after having his teeth pulled last week. Everything looks great and she said he was healing beautifully.
All the nurses just love Porkchop. They all threaten to kidnap him and take him home. He loves all the nurses too.
After the vet Michael had a meeting for our association and I went to get a manicure and pedicure for Easter. I got a fun coral/orange color to match my Easter dress.
We relaxed in the afternoon and even got a little nap in. In the evening we headed over to Rich and Tif's house to hangout and go to dinner. We went to Famous Dave's for dinner. Jacob really enjoyed his mashed potatoes!
On Saturday we got up and met up with everyone for breakfast. After breakfast I ran a bunch of errands and got a few last minute things I needed for Easter breakfast. After running around and getting all my shopping done we headed home so that we could dye Easter eggs.
Saturday afternoon we just relaxed. We watched some movies and just cuddled up on the couch. It was nice.
Today we got up early to get everything ready for Easter breakfast with Michael's family. We normally have traditional Ukranian breakfast which is cold hard boiled eggs, cold ham, cold sausage, beets and bread. Unfortunately, Michael's grandma is still sick with the shingles so we just had a regular breakfast this year since she normally makes the beets and bread. We made french toast, egg and bacon casserole, bacon, sausage, hash browns a fruit salad that Rich and Tif brought and blueberry muffins from Michael's Mom. I was excited to use our china and all of our pastel colored plates which were perfect for Easter.
I was so excited to see Jacob since it was his first Easter! I had all of his Easter presents waiting for him to arrive! He had lots of presents from Grandma and Grandpa too!
After Jacob was done opening all of his Easter baskets, it was time to eat breakfast! Everything came out really well. Michael did most of the cooking. I just made the bacon and egg casserole. Jacob also got his first taste of his Grandma's famous blueberry muffins. He is definitely a fan!
After breakfast Jacob played with some of his new toys and the sun decided to come out so we went outside for a while too.
After Michael's family left we were on the road to celebrate Easter with my family. We went to my Aunt Diane's for brunch. We couldn't eat any of the delicious food since we were still stuffed from breakfast but everything looked delicious. Somehow I got caught up talking too much and not taking any pictures because I didn't take a single one. We had a great time visiting with everyone. It was nice since everyone in our family was there! After my leaving my Aunt's house we headed to my parents to hang out and have some dinner.
Mom made a super yummy spread. We had sandwiches, potato salad, beans and mermaid seafood salad. She even made a cake for dessert! We ate some dinner and then watched the Blackhawks game. We stayed until the end of regulation but I wanted to get on the road before overtime. Of course we just missed the game winning goal by about 3 minutes but regardless, we won and we're on to game 7!
After we saw the winning replays we pretty much crashed. It was an action packed weekend, but it was a lot of fun. I really wish Easter was on Saturday so we would have another day to relax after all of the celebrating! Oh well, hopefully this week goes by fast. I hope all of you had a great weekend, a Happy Easter, and a speedy week ahead!
