Ethan's World: 8 Months

8 months little man, how did that happen so fast? This has been a month of ups and downs. Unfortunately you have been sick for most of it. You had to endure 5 doctors appointments, breathing treatments, double ear infections, and almost 3 weeks of antibiotics, all while teething too. We are finally back to 100% and I am so thankful for it. Amazingly, you were such a trooper through all of it. You are still sitting very well and you are starting to get brave by lunging forward and to the sides. When you are on your tummy, you will spin yourself around and push yourself backwards, but you still haven't got the forward movement part. I am guessing you will start crawling in the next month or so. You love playing with all of your new toys you got for Christmas and its so much fun to watch you. You are still putting everything in your mouth and drooling like crazy. I'm guessing your top 2 teeth are going to be coming through sooner than later. You still love standing and you can stand for much longer periods of time. You absolutely loved Christmas and everything about it. It was so much fun watching you soak it all in. I think your favorite part though was the wrapping paper! You are the sweetest little boy we could have ever asked for and we are soaking up every minute. I love thinking about what you will be doing next month and we can't wait to watch it all happen. We love you so much little man!

Weight:
You weigh 20 pounds 6 oz, the 77th percentile. You actually lost a little weight this month from being sick.
Height:
You are 31 inches long, still our growing boy!
Clothing Size:
You have about a week left in 9 months and then you will be sporting all of the 12 month clothes you got for Christmas!
Diapers:
You are wearing Pampers size 3 and they are still fitting you well, but we have size 4's waiting when you run out of 3's.
Feeding:
You eat your formula on a regular schedule of 5 times a day and 6 oz at each feeding. A couple times a week you only have 4 bottles so I think the transition to more food is coming soon. We've moved on to the Stage 2 food blends and you really love them. You love eating puffs now and have gotten much better at it. We've given you a few things off our plate - french toast, eggs, biscuits, pizza crust, broccoli, mashed potatoes and you've eaten it all. I'm actually looking forward to you eating real food instead of purees!
Hair/Eyes:
Your hair is still golden blonde and grows extremely fast. You've had 5 hair cuts so far. Everyone who sees you still comments on your sparkling blue eyes!
Sleep:
Sleep has been rough this month since you were sick and teething at the same time. You were sleeping from 7 - 4 then eating and going back down. Not too bad but we are spoiled with your good sleeping. This past week we have been back on track and you've been sleeping from 7 - 7 or 7:30 so Mommy is very happy about that. I think we have some separation anxiety happening and it is a bit tougher to get you down some nights. You are still taking 2 naps a day, we've dropped your short evening nap in the past couple of weeks.

Fun Stuff You Did This Month:

First Christmas
We had so much fun celebrating your first Christmas! We did crafts, you got lots of new ornaments, a new stocking, Christmas book countdown and we had wonderful celebrations with our families. You are such a lucky and loved little boy!

Eating Puffs
You really got the hang of eating puffs and just bringing food to your mouth in general this month. It's so funny to watch the level of concentration you have on your face while you are working on picking something up and eating it.

First New Year's Eve
We celebrated your first New Year's! We went over to Uncle Rich and Aunt Tif's to play with Jacob and Makayla and hang out. You had lots of fun and actually lasted until almost 10! Then you went and slept in Jacob's bed since he was still up partying until midnight!

First Time Swimming
We re-joined the gym this month and we couldn't wait to bring you to one of the family swim times. I finally bought you new swim trunks last weekend so we could take you. Daddy and I were nervous to see how you would like it. You love your baths but we didn't know how you would react. It's nice because they have a zero entry pool where you can just walk in so you could sit and play in the water. Luckily you absolutely loved it, we sat you in the water and you lunged forward like you had been there 100 times! When we took you into the deeper water, you loved that too. We couldn't believe it but you were kicking your legs like mad like you were ready to go swimming! I think we'll have to make this a weekly excursion and in the Summer we can go to the outdoor pool too.

  1. I can't get over how tall he is! My 14 month old is just a hair taller than Ethan, and Harry is considered really tall for his age!! I love his penguin shirt, too :)
