Weekend Recap

We had another wonderful and productive weekend! On Friday we woke up to a few inches of snow. I'm ready for no more snow, but you couldn't deny how pretty it looked.

We needed to be at the doctor early so we were out the door at 7 am. We got to see our little man on an ultrasound and everything is looking great. He is growing, growing, growing! I still can't believe we only have 10 weeks till our little man is going to be here! After our doctor's appointment, we came back home and started our workday. After work we headed over to Rich and Tif's to hangout and have dinner. They made some really yummy beef, chicken and veggie kabobs. After dinner we just relaxed, talked and played with the kids. 

Saturday morning we were up and out early. We grabbed some breakfast and then headed to Target and the grocery store. We headed back home, unloaded the groceries and then I decided to put up our Easter decorations. I'm doing a post on our decorations later this week.

After putting up the decorations, I made us some lunch and then we went to work on the nursery. We got his bathroom all put together and hung all of the prints on his collage wall. The full reveal will be tomorrow in our nursery progress update!

We were both pretty wrecked so it was nap time! I woke up before Michael so I got started on dinner. I put some ribs in the oven and we had pulled rib sliders for dinner. They were really yummy!

We ended the night with a movie and popcorn night. We watched the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie and then crashed.

Today we were up early again, had some breakfast and then ran a couple of errands. We needed to go to Costco to stock up on some essentials. We also wanted to check prices on some of the baby items, diapers, wipes, formula, etc. I bought some a box of 1120 baby wipes so we should be set for awhile! After running errands we came home and unloaded a very full car of stuff. Then it was time to do some work. 

While we were on vacation, Michael's Dad worked on putting some flat plywood decks in our attic so we could use it for additional storage. With Ethan on the way we know we are going to be accumulating lots of stuff, so now we have a new place to store the things he grows out of. We had some random boxes we wanted to put up there to so Michael climbed up to check it out. We have plenty of storage room now, it's going to be really nice.

After working in the attic, I made us some lunch and we put a pot of spaghetti sauce on since we like it to cook all day. A few times a year we make a giant pot of sauce and freeze it to have for dinners. We made enough for 13 dinners.

The rest of the day we worked on laundry and even got a nap in. I'm loving how much we've been getting done these past few weekends. I'm starting to feel prepared for Ethan's arrival in a couple months. His nursery is almost done and we are getting lots of projects done around the house as well. Tonight we are just going to relax, watch the Oscars and call it a night. We both have very busy work weeks ahead of us, so we're already looking ahead to next weekend. Vacation Recap: The Beach

I'm finally getting another recap done for our vacation. I've been distracted with nursery decorating! We didn't spend a ton of time on the beach on our trip because the ocean was still a littly chilly since it's February. Plus with a beautiful pool at the perfect temperature back at the house, it was an easy choice!

I could go in up to my knees and that's about it. But even though the water was cold, we still had fun walking the beach, picking up shells, taking pictures and of course writing our name in the sand! I love the bird pictures that Michael took, especially the ones with the pelican just gliding over the water. It was also fun to take my weekly baby bump picture with the ocean as the backdrop too!

Baby Dworianyn Bump Watch: 29 Weeks

How far along? 29 weeks
Size of the baby? An acorn squash. 15.2 inches, 3.0 pounds
Maternity clothes? Still in all of my regular clothes.
Weight gain? Still no gain, holding steady at -26 pounds.
Gender? Little man, Ethan!
Movement? He's moving all day long, I love it.
Sleep? So happy I'm not having sleeping issues.
Food Cravings? BLT's are my favorite thing right now.
What I miss? Absolutely nothing, I am just loving being pregnant right now.
Symptoms? Still feeling great, I love feeling him move and he's been getting the hiccups now too.
Best moments of the week? Working on our little boy's nursery. Every night before bed we walk in his room and just look around in awe that we really have this little miracle on the way.
What is baby doing this week? This week our little boy is developing white fat deposits under his skin and his energy is surging because of it. His head is growing bigger to accommodate his rapidly growing brain. His bones are soaking up 250 milligrams of calcium everyday to harden his growing skeleton.

Nursery Progress Report #5

It's been a couple of weeks since our last progress report since we were gone on vacation. While we were gone Michael's Dad worked in the bathroom. He finished painting, installed the sink, faucet and light fixture. I can't wait to get it all cleaned up so we can put all of his bathroom accessories in there! Hopefully next weekend.

The big news this week was getting all of our new carpet installed in the house. We've had nothing but plywood floors in the nursery for the past few weeks, so it's nice to have the beautiful, plush, charcoal gray carpet in there now.

We also were able to set up his crib, re-install the closet doors and put the closet back together after having the carpet installed. It's really starting to come together!

On the shopping side, I finally found baskets for the bottom of the bookcases we are going to install. I also bought a mirror for the bathroom. It will be in white though, compared to the picture.

I also found a basket for the top of the dresser to use for diaper changing supplies.

I also bought all of the frames for the wall collage I'm putting above this dresser. I put most of the prints I bought already in frames, I'm missing a couple I haven't received yet. We are going to get them hung next weekend hopefully.

Finally on the agenda this week was  applying the vinyl alphabet on the walls. We already had the letters all cut out and taped up in the order and spacing we wanted. We thought it was going to take forever, but it wasn't bad at all, a little over an hour. We love how it came out.

Our bookcases are on tap for next weekend's project which I'm looking forward to putting in place and start decorating. We're in the home stretch of getting our little boy's room done. I'm so excited to work on all of the little details now! 

Weekend Recap

We had a fun and very productive weekend. On Friday after work we headed over to Rich and Tif to hang out with Tif and the kids. Rich and Ken were at a corned beef dinner they go to every year. We had fun playing with the kids. We also had most of the things that they bought in Disney since we could put them in our car so they didn't have to bring them home on the plane. Makayla modeled her new Mickey ears and was cuddling with her new Minnie Mouse doll.

On Saturday we met up with Michael's family for breakfast. We went from breakfast to meet my family at Flattop for lunch. My parents, Arla, Teddy and Lily met us there. We had a yummy lunch and had fun catching up and passing around Lily like a hot potato. I hadn't seen her in a few weeks so I had to get as much Lily time in as possible!

After lunch we made a couple stops on the way home at Home Goods and Babies R Us. When we got home we both felt like a nap was in order. We passed out for a couple of hours and then headed out to celebrate Valentine's Day at Wildfire. We ate way too much on Saturday by the way! We had a really nice dinner. I had my favorite thing at Wildfire and its only available on Saturdays, their beef wellington. It's delicious!

After dinner we stopped at the grocery store to pick up a couple of things and ended up doing our grocery shopping for the week since it was so dead. I think we'll have to do our shopping at 9pm more often!

On Sunday we got up and went out for breakfast and then headed out to run a bunch of errands. We hit up IKEA, Container Store, Home Goods and Five Below. I was excited to get all of the frames for Ethan's wall collage in the nursery at IKEA. They have the best frames. You can't beat getting 15 frames for under $100. I also finally found a basket for his changing table at Home Goods.

After we got home from all of our running around, we had some lunch and then went upstairs to get started on our projects for Ethan's nursery. Our goal was to put his crib together, get his closet back in order after having the carpet installed and to apply the vinyl alphabet.

Ethan's closet all finished! We installed the wood pull out drawers and got everything back in order.

The biggest project of the day was applying the vinyl alphabet. We thought it was going to take us a few hours to finish it since we had to apply 52 individual pieces. It actually only ended up taking a little bit over an hour. We got a good system going and we cranked right through it. It looks so good, we are really happy with the finished product. The full reveal will be in tomorrow's nursery progress post, but here's a sneak peek!

After finishing the vinyl, I worked on framing pieces for the collage wall in the nursery. I don't have everything yet but I was able to do most of the pieces. My favorite one so far is this giraffe kiss poster!

For Sunday dinner we made homemade Chinese takeout. Sesame chicken, fried rice and homemade potstickers. It was really yummy!
