New Recipe: Turkey Meatball Patty Melts

I saw this recipe on Pinterest and it served as inspiration for my own version. It's like a meatball sandwich, but much easier to eat since the meatballs are in patty form. I'm partial to my own meatball recipe so I took the idea and ran with it. They were delicious! They taste so indulgent and were only 400 calories. These will definitely be on the menu again soon.

Meatball Ingredients
1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons milk
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella or Italian blend cheese
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 tsp garlic Powder
1 pound lean ground turkey
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

Additional Ingredients
4 Italian rolls
1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
8 Thin slices of provolone cheese
4 tbsp softened butter
2 tsp garlic powder

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Brush sheet pan with the olive oil
3. Mix all the remaining meatball ingredients together and combine well
4. Divide mixture into 4 and make 4, 4 ounce patties
5. Add patties to the oiled pan and bake for 30 minutes, flipping over halfway through
6. While the patties are cooking, separate the Italian rolls and spread some softened butter on the top of the bun top and sprinkle with garlic powder.
7. With 5 minutes remaining on the patties, preheat your panini press.
8. When the patties are finished place the patty on the bottom bun (Note: what was the inside of the bun will now be the outside. So place the patty on the bottom side of the bun.)
9. Spoon sauce on top of the patty and add 2 slices of provolone cheese.
10. Top with bun top with the butter side down, the inside of the bun will be facing out now.
11. Spray your panini pan with non-stick spray or olive oil.
12. Place the sandwich on the panini press and close for 5 minutes.
13. Remove when crispy and golden.
14. Enjoy!
