Sunday, October 21: We had a pj day since Ethan wasn't feeling too well.

Weekend Recap

A new weekend starts tomorrow and I haven't posted last weekend's recap yet, I'm a little behind! On Friday we made the meat mixture for ravioli fest that was taking place the next day.

 We made homemade pizza for dinner and just watched some tv and relaxed the rest of the night.

On Saturday it was time for Ravioli Fest 2012! We haven't made ravioli in 2 years so we were all looking forward to it. We all took turns doing different things, working the dough, filling, taking care of the kids and doing lots of eating! Ethan did a lot of sleeping too!

We also celebrated mine and Arla's birthday and opened some presents after dinner. I had a sleeping Ethan in my arms so I didn't get any pictures. We all walked away with 6 or 7 bags of ravioli. I can't wait for Ethan to try some in a few months when he's eating more foods!

On Sunday Ethan woke up and his little cold seemed to get dramatically worse overnight. He was wheezing pretty bad and coughing a lot. We were supposed to got to Boo at the Zoo, but that definitely wasn't happening given his cold. We decided to have a pajamas day instead. It was a bummer because it was the most beautiful day out, but we still had fun together. We watched football, made some appetizers to munch on and just loved on our sick little boy. I will say he is the happiest sick baby. Even though he didn't feel good, he was still his happy, smiley self.

So today marks a milestone, I turn the page to my 30's. And while I remember being a kid and thinking that 30 was "so old" now that I'm here it doesn't feel that way at all. I think some people are scared of 30 because it feels like the end of their youth, a distinct line between being young and getting older. To me, turning 30 is exciting. I know who I am, I know what I want out of life and for the most part, I've figured out how to get there. I'm exactly where I would have liked to be in my life at this point. I have the most amazing husband and the sweetest miracle baby that make me a better person everyday. 

So in honor of my 30 years, I've compiled the most important 30 life lessons I've learned in these first 30 years of my life. I'm sure I will have many to add in the next 10, 20, 30 years and beyond.

1. Having love in your life is almost as necessary as air to breathe.

2. Your job is not your life.

3. Change can be scary, but it can also be the best thing to ever happen to you.

4. Patience will pay off, no matter how hard to accept.

5. A positive attitude can be a game changer.

6. Appreciate your family, they won't be here forever.

7. Say you're sorry when you screw up.

8. It's not important for everyone to like you.

9. Jealousy is a useless emotion.

10. Perfection is never perfect.

11. Honesty really is the best policy.

12. Confidence is the sexiest thing you can put on everyday.

13. Capture as many memories as you can, you won't remember everything you think you will.

14. Appreciate the small things.

15. Go with your gut and don't second guess yourself.

16. It's not all about you.

17. Happiness isn't for sale in any store.

18. The majority of your problems are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

19. Be thankful for everything you have; it's significantly more than most people will ever know.

20. Laughter really is the best medicine.

21. Worrying is overrated.

22. The happiest girls are the prettiest girls.

23. Having a few people who have your back is always better than 100 people who don't.

24. Don't rush things that need more time.

25. Make time to enjoy your passion.

26. Help others as often as you can.

27. Reward yourself for achieving milestones along the way.

28. Your way is not always the right way.

29. The "golden rule" is always applicable.

30. You don't know everything and you never will.

So as I look back and think about all of the things I've learned, I feel lucky with everything I’m taking away. And so I welcome in this next decade and can't wait to see what new adventures lie ahead!

Fall Family Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago I shared a sneak peek our photographer sent us from our Fall Family photo shoot. I got our disc with the rest of the pictures and I was totally blown away. She captured some amazing shots. I have no idea how I'm going to choose which ones to print and display!

A conversation between cousins

I took these pictures last weekend at Lily's party and they were so funny together. Ethan was enthralled with her and she didn't feel exactly the same way, LOL! When I was editing my pictures I thought these pictures told a story so I came up with what I thought they were thinking!

Ethan: Hi Lily, Happy Birthday! You look really pretty.

Lily: Uh, why are you sitting so close to me? 

Ethan: I love you, can I put my arm on your shoulder?

Lily: Uh, I don't know about that. 

 Ethan: I really like your tutu.

Lily: Okay, maybe you should scoot over a little bit.

Ethan: Mmmm, and it's tasty too!

Lily: (she gives the Ebeling look) 

Lily: Alright, that's it, you need to go!
