Nursery Progress Report #8

Well I feel like I've been talking about Ethan's bookcases for months, but they are finally here, painted and in his room! They were worth the wait though, because I think they look great. They are still a little bare but hopefully we'll get some books at our shower and we'll add to his collection over time as well.

This is the view when you walk into the room.

I moved the chair out of the way so you can see the whole bookcase on the right side.

I also hung up his name over the crib. I had the letters made on Etsy and she customized them for his bedding. I love how they came out!

I mounted his mobile on the crib thanks to Tif. She is letting us borrow the mobile arm from Jacob's mobile. Jacob is already sharing with Ethan! I still need to make a fabric sleeve for the arm with some of his bedding fabric. The woman who made his light fixture sent me the fabric she didn't use and it should be plenty to make it. Hopefully I'll get that done next weekend.

The last thing we got done this week was hanging his vinyl growth chart. The Etsy seller who made the alphabet in his room also made the growth chart. We put it behind his door so its not a main focal point, but I think it looks cute.

So that's the latest in Ethan's nursery. This will be the last update for a while. All of our projects are now complete. We just need to wait until our shower to see what things we get for the little man and what we still have left to buy, then we'll do a final nursery reveal! Thanks for following along the way while we completed construction, paint, carpet, furniture and all the details. We've had so much fun working on his nursery and we're really proud of how everything came out.

Weekend Recap

Another weekend in the books. We had a pretty low key weekend which was nice. Our weekdays have been pretty crazy lately with work so its been nice to not have a whole lot going on during the weekends. On Friday after work we met up with Michael's parents, Rich, Tif and the kids and Ken at our local sushi restaurant for dinner. Everything was yummy. I didn't bring my camera so I didn't get any pics. After dinner we headed back to Rich and Tif's to hangout for a bit before heading home and crashing.

Saturday morning we went to breakfast, ran a few errands and then we went down to my parent's house for lunch. They were babysitting Lily for the weekend so we wanted to go see her since it had been a few weeks. She was so cute and she is getting so big.

We hung out at my parents for several hours and then I was getting pretty tired so we headed home. It was time for a nap and then we ordered a pizza for dinner and just relaxed the rest of the night. 

On Sunday we actually slept in a little for once and then got up, had some breakfast and then we got started on Ethan's bookcases. We put them together and then we needed to paint the backs aqua. We were originally not going to put the backs on, but the backs made them more secure. They came out really nice. It was so nice out too so we didn't mind being outside painting.

The full reveal of his bookcases in his nursery will be later this week in the next nursery progress update. After we were done with the bookcases we had some lunch and we both took a little nap. 

Porkchop was so happy it was nice out, he got to lay out on the deck for the first time this year! Now we just need to get some new patio furniture for him to lay on. 

Because it was so nice out we knew we definitely wanted to grill for dinner. We made bbq ribs and they were delicious. I really hope this weather stays so we can keep cooking out on the grill. 

After dinner we just relaxed, watched some tv and I did some blogging for the week. Hopefully we'll have a little less busy of a week ahead but at least its going to be nice out. We're supposed to hit 70 this week! That is just crazy for March. I hope all of you had a great weekend and have a good week ahead.

Watching: My shirt move as Ethan kicks like crazy in my belly.
Listening to: Not too sure I am feeling American Idol. I think they got rid of too many too fast.
Looking forward to: Springing ahead this weekend, I love the extra daylight.
Hearing buzz about: The new iPad. I think I'm going to stick with my iPad 2 but I am really excited they launched iPhoto for iPad!

Baby Dworianyn Bump Watch: 31 Weeks

How far along? 31 weeks
Size of the baby? A pineapple (ouch!) 16.7 inches, 3.8 pounds
Maternity clothes? I am beginning to think I will be in all of my regular clothes until the end. Good thing I didn't spend money on maternity clothes!
Weight gain? Still no gain, holding steady at -26 pounds.
Gender? Little man, Ethan!
Movement? He's still a ninja in there, I'm hoping he starts moving into the right position soon!
Sleep? Definitely sleepier these days. I'm out early at night and require naps on the weekends.
Food Cravings? Pretty much anything sounds good, but I'm keeping it under control.
What I miss? Absolutely nothing, I am just loving being pregnant right now.
Symptoms? I still feel awesome and I hope it continues for the next 9 weeks.
Best moments of the week? Hearing that I'm a model patient at the doctor, Mama is proud!
What is baby doing this week? This week our little boy's five senses are fully developed. Almost all of his organs are fully functional. He keeps getting smarter as his brain continues to develop and wrinkle. His eyes are further developing and his irises now react to light coming into the womb.

Nursery Progress Report #7

This week is going to be a pretty short nursery update. Our bookcases were supposed to arrive this week but then I received an e-mail that they weren't going to even be shipped until the 20th and then we should receive them the 31st. We could not wait another month so I called and cancelled our order. I got online to find another option. Well they say everything happens for a reason and I found a great new option. They have a great trim on top that matches the top of his crib, which we love. We are going to install them without the backs so the aqua paint will show through the bookcases; I think it will be a great effect. We should hopefully have the bookcases by the end of the week so we will finally be able to get them installed this weekend.

We received a few custom items we ordered from Etsy this week. They are two things I was really excited about, his mobile and his name going above his crib. We still need to get it mounted to his crib, but you can get the idea.

Here's a sneak peek of the letters. We can't hang them until the bookcases and the crib are in their final spot.  I just love how they came out and I can't wait to see them over his crib!

I also made a stop at one of my favorite boutiques, Saraboo Creek to make a couple signs for his room. I made a sign for his door with his name on it and a sign to put under the giraffe kiss print we framed.

So that's our update for this week. I'm hoping that next week we will finally have our bookcases and all of the furniture will finally be placed. Then we will just need his bedding and curtains and his room will almost be done!

Weekend Recap

We had a nice and relaxing weekend. The past few weekends we've been working ourselves to the bone, so it was nice to have a break. Friday morning I had an early doctor's appointment to check on me and Ethan. It was a great appointment. The doctor was extremely pleased with how I am doing. She said my glucose score was the lowest she's ever seen in a patient. She was also very impressed that I haven't gained any weight and guessed I will probably be down 35lbs overall when I leave the hospital, I'll take it! She was calling me the poster child of pregnancy, which I just find humorous considering how hard it was for us to get pregnant! I'm just happy I feel great and I'm not giant and uncomfortable.

After my doctor's appointment, it was time to work and we finished out our work days. We had a crazy day of weather on Friday too. Most of the day it was raining and then late in the afternoon it started hailing followed by a half hour later it was snowing like crazy! And it's supposed to be 60 on Tuesday, what a crazy Winter!

Friday night we grabbed some dinner and then headed over to Rich and Tif's. We hung out and played with the kids like we do on most Friday nights. We had fun and headed home around 9:30.

Saturday we went out for breakfast and ran some errands. For lunch we met up with Rich, Tif and the kids along with Ken and his friend Kat at Flattop. We had a yummy lunch and then we headed home. We relaxed for a bit and then Michael headed over to Ken's to play some poker in the afternoon. I took a nap and just relaxed while I waited for Michael to come home. We had some dinner and just relaxed the rest of the night. 

Sunday morning we woke up early and I made us some breakfast. I made French toast and turkey sausage. It was yummy!

After breakfast we headed to do our grocery shopping for the week. When we came home I worked on making some meals for the week and Michael headed to the shooting range. I met him at Rich and Tif's to have lunch with them and Michael's Mom. The men made us paninis for lunch and they were really good. We hung out a while before heading home. Michael and I both passed out and took a nap for an hour or so. Before we knew it it was 5:30 and we had to head out for our hospital tour. We took a tour of the labor and delivery section of Central DuPage Hospital. The tour was nice and it was good to see everything and know where we need to go. It's crazy to think the next time we are there Ethan will be on his way!

So that's pretty much our weekend, nothing too crazy, but it was nice to mostly relax, we needed it! Next weekend we will hopefully be putting together bookcases in Ethan's nursery and hanging up some additional items we got this week. I hope you all had a great weekend and have a good week ahead!

How far along? 30 weeks, 3 days
Size of the baby? A head of cabbage. 16 inches, 3.4 pounds
Maternity clothes? Still in all of my regular clothes.
Weight gain? Still no gain, holding steady at -26 pounds.
Gender? Little man, Ethan!
Movement? He's moving all day long, I love it.
Sleep? Sleeping like a rock.
Food Cravings? No real cravings right now.
What I miss? Absolutely nothing, I am just loving being pregnant right now.
Symptoms? Still feeling great, I love feeling him move. That will be the one thing I will miss about being pregnant.
Best moments of the week? Hearing how big our little boy is getting. It's crazy to hear he is over 3lbs. I remember when he was the size of a raspberry!
What is baby doing this week? This week our little boy's vision is continuing to develop, though its not very good. He is also now strong enough to grasp a finger! His skin is getting smoother and his brain is getting wrinklier to make way for all of that essential brain tissue.
